Mr. Butters began using an inexpensive exercise wheel at 4 months old. Just after his first birthday, I realized he needed a larger wheel. That’s when I found the Nordic Beast, which is super solid as it quietly spins on soft-rolling bearings. Yes, there are cheaper knock-offs out there. I did a lot of research and went with Nordic Beast’s 9-layer solid plywood construction and waterproof melamine finish. No particleboard and paper laminate here. The wooden edges are smooth with no splintering or chipping of melamine. The carpeted runway is soft, durable, and snag-free. Mr. Butters likes to stretch, relax, and sleep on the carpet when not walking and running on it. Ranger, his brother, uses it only for sleeping and stretching. The wheel arrived very well packed with all parts and pieces labeled and organized. There were no damaged or chipped pieces and no missing parts. Everything went together perfectly, and the predrilled holes were all spot-on. From the unboxing, the cats were intrigued with the Nordic Beast. Mr. Butters was sprinting on it in no time. He uses it many times daily and throughout the night. It’s very smooth and quiet, so there is no need for us to use the fishtail wheel lock. Mr. Butters is 17 months old and 21.5 inches from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail. He weighs just over 12 pounds and has been using the Nordic Beast for about three months now. Oh my word! Nordic Beast, you Rock!! Seriously, I hemmed and hawed for weeks over whether to purchase the 48" Nordic wheel for my 4 cats. It is a lot of money for a cat toy. My husband and I finally took the plunge. It is one of the best decisions. We do not regret it one bit.First, every piece of the wheel was BEAUTIFULLY packed in bubble wrap. Seriously, no scratches or damage. The packing was so thought out. I was so pleased at the care and respect taken to package all the bits and pieces. I mean who wants to spend a lot of money on something they have to put together only to find pieces of it scratched or damaged in which you have to take the time to have that piece replaced. I mean nothing is more disappointing than being excited about something for your fur babies only to have to be delayed further. This is definitely not one of those instances! I felt that the company appreciated the fact that I was purchasing their product for my wonderful fur babies and they let me know by taking care that their product would be delivered safely and undamaged.The instructions were super easy to understand, but I did appreciate the fact that there was a video I could watch just to make sure I was putting the wheels on correctly. I did see other reviews where purchasers were saying they got thin cuts from handling the wood pieces. I noticed in the package with all of the screws and bolts, they had included a pair of gloves to assist with the installation of the pieces. I only use them for a few pieces, but as a whole I did not use the gloves. But I did feel that it was so awesome to know that the company listen to the reviewers comments and added the gloves for future purchasers. At least that was my take on it because why else would people comment about getting cuts if they had a pair of gloves that were included to use. Also, I did note that the instructions said to glue the velcro down, however the velcro that was included in my box was the super adhesive kind so no glue was necessary. I am not sure if that was an earlier version of the instructions , but it was not needed for my installation of the wheel . It was super easy to place the adhesive velcro all around the inside rails to hold the carpet.Another thing that I definitely want to note is I love that this company included wood anchors for all of the pieces. I have put together so many things through the years that just have you screwed directly into wood but then after much use the screws end up breaking through the wood and then the piece is no longer sturdy. By using these anchors that fit beautifully into the pre-drilled holes, I believe that it leads to so much stronger construction of the unit. My husband and I did not want to put our money to other cat wheels by other companies because we believe that the Nordic Beast is the real deal and not a knock off like the other cat wheels. We did not want to put the safety of our fur babies into a product just because it was less expensive.The track sounds like a smooth roller skate or skate board. It is not disturbing to listen to in the least. We have the Nordic Beast near our television so we can enjoy watching the cats play on the wheel while we're watching TV. We started out with a laser pointer to entice the cats to play on the wheel, but the cats were already interested because they were watching every phase of my putting the wheel together. I am so confident in the construction. Within 30 minutes of putting it in place, one of my cats had already figured out the wheel and was using it for a few turns peaking the interest of the others. Of course, the one cat that really needs it just wanted to use it as a cat bed the first night. ?? I was pleasantly surprised the second day when one of my other cats started to use the wheel at full speed for a few turns. It makes our hearts happy to know that our cats can get their zoomies out without tearing up my house or knocking things over! ?? Still waiting on our big girl to use the wheel, but I am sure she won't be too far behind.Please, if you have any reservations about getting the wheel, be rest assured that the Nordic Beast is well worth the money and entertainment! We have ten cats and I was worried if any would use a treadmill. It took only a few minutes before the first cat gave it a try without needing treats or a toy. I read some of the reviews and still decided to purchase this. Firstly, almost all of the parts can completely bubble wrapped. No damage. Secondly, have a helper, save time. My husband and I put it together in under an hour. Additionally have a regular hammer and electric screwdriver on hand. Work smarter not harder. The hammer is only for the wall anchors in their holes. Softly don’t force them. As for the casters, they are perfectly fine. Unless you have a Bengal or Savannah cat that needs to run 30 miles an hour you’re good. I don’t want my 10lb house cat flying off the darn thing. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. If you put it together with the right tools it’s very sturdy. All in all it’s worth the money. I’ll post a video of one of my cats using it a few days after arrival. Something to note, I did not receive the gold letter stickers as advertised to put my pet’s name on it. But honestly I don’t care. Still a good buy.

Firstly we have seven kitties in the home, and four of them took to the wheel immediately. They just understood it and were so curious, not shy at all. The other three have had curious moments but not really taken to it even after watching the other kitties. We’ve had the wheel assembled and available to them for over a month now and it’s working as well as when we first got it. It’s not very hard to move around once assembled but there is definitely some weight to both the wheel and the base, it’s best to move each piece separately. Assembly was definitely a task, and the instructions were pretty good, but we had to re-read some parts and figure it out a bit. We took several breaks. It probably took an hour to assemble, but with frequent breaks and taking it extra slow to make sure it’s done right, it took me closer to about 2 hours to assemble. It is very sturdy, there are no plastic supports or easily bendable/breakable parts which we appreciate. Everything we needed plus extras was available in the kit to complete the assembly. Our cats range from 7-12 pounds averaging around 10 pounds. This cat wheel is definitely large enough, but if I’m being honest, it could be bigger for my kitties that really want to RUN on it. The weight of it all I think keeps them at a certain pace. If the wheel gets going to fast they have to slow down because the weight of it will keep making it faster. At the same time it really takes some pushes for them to get it going. A casual stroll on it quickly comes to a stop unless they begin actively running again. The wheels range from quiet to loud. When a kitty is really going fast and running hard it definitely creates a noticeable humming sound. Overall the design is good but some attention to detail could go a long way. The edges of all the boards and pieces are sharp, not rounded or sanded down at all. One of our kitties did get going to fast at one point and upon trying to jump off the wheel their back leg whacked the edge of the boards and it caused a laceration on her leg that had to scab up and heal. She got back on the wheel but is afraid to go very fast unfortunately. The carpet for the inside is soft, but everything else is definitely hard and quite ridged. All of that said, we still feel like this product deserves five stars. It’s something our cats will grow with, providing lots of physical activity and adding to the playful nature of their environment here at camp kitty. We have plans to decorate the wheel, possibly add lights to it. We are likely going to buy a second wheel, perhaps the pink one now that it’s available. We have hopes our other kitties might eventually take a liking to the wheel, and perhaps they have they just don’t like an audience. If you have a multi-cat home, especially with younger cats, definitely try this cat wheel. If you’ve got a cat with high energy I would absolutely give the wheel a try. If you have a senior cat, one that’s particularly large like 13+ pounds or that struggles with mobility this might not be the wheel for them. I want to also mention because I know that unfortunately some cats get de-clawed, it’s not as common anymore, but worth pointing out that if your kitty doesn’t have their claws this wheel might be very difficult for them to use. They need to be able to grip the carpet to get the wheel spinning, to keep their balance and more. That’s why the inside is carpeted, not just to be soft, but so the kitties can grip it with their claws. Take caution if your kitty has no claws. It wasn�t too hard to assemble and everything fit together nicely. The item itself is attractive to our cats and gets multiple stops a day. They include more than enough parts to assemble it and everything is well marked. It�s relatively quiet, just fades into the background like a clothes dryer. Not disturbing noise level at all. The carpet is thick and perfectly matched to install or switch out easily, yet a sticks solid when cats are playing or scratching on it. So I wasn't sure how my cats were going like this or not and I was a little wary on spending the money..I went back and forth on ordering it because it's a little more pricey than some of the other ones. But I did a lot of research and with all the things that were important to me.. this one was the best one for what I was looking for. That's safety, quietness, stability, durability and room for both kitties to be in it if they wanted to. I will start with the negative about it. I found it very hard to put together at the start.. I definitely recommend having two people put it together and a cordless screwdriver to speed it up and to make it easier... it went much faster with my husband and I doing it together. The instruction sheet that comes with it is just one page front and back and it's hard to really understand what everything is and there is a video where you can scan a QR code or whatever you call it and watch the video.. the model on the video is a different one so two boards were reversed when putting it together and on the video it says that they could be reversed BUT I didn't know what they were talking about lol until we put them together and then I looked at the sheet and finally it made sense that i had them backwards, once we got to that point everything went together easy and honestly it really isn't difficult it's just a little confusing to get started cuz you just don't know what you're doing... it would be nice if they marked the parts with the letter that they are but it's just on the bag for most of them. okay now the positives... it is big and roomy for my kitties but it's not oppressively big.. The sound it makes when in movement... I can hear it when they're on it but it's not overbearing where if I'm sitting in the other room listening to TV it's going to bother me. I actually work in the office where the cat wheel is and it doesn't distract me when I'm focused so far this morning. We put it together last night and the cats were instantly curious about it and using the Little Feather toy that it came with it I was able to get them to walk on it right away. I moved it up inside the wheel higher so they would move up on it and hoped the movement wouldn't scare them (I kind of held it with my other hand so that it wouldn't like move too fast and scare them really bad right away) and they both seem to like it. Went to bed last night, got up this morning and I sprayed one little spot with catnip about 3/4 of the way up the wheel for my one cat and she instantly went on it and started to go up to where it was sprayed of course she licked and smelled where the catnip was sprayed. But then probably about 5 minutes later I heard the wheel moving I looked over and my big cat was walking on the wheel. She didn't let my little cat near it for a while but when she finally came off at my little cat got on it and she also was walking on the wheel. I was super surprised that they took to the wheel so fast.. not to mention happy i didn't waste my money... I highly recommend this product.

This wheel is everything the company claims it to be. It is big and sturdy. Relatively quiet for what it is. The pieces are solid. Nothing was missing. The box it was packaged in looked like it had seen some things but the pieces inside were unscathed.It does take some time to properly put together. Took me about 2.5-3 hours by myself with only a ratcheting screwdriver. It came with a cheap screwdriver but I used my own. I wouldn’t recommend any kind of power tool for putting it together as the screw heads strip easily and you could drive it in too far and split the wood. The instructions were pretty clear and they included a QR code you can scan that will take you to an assembly video but I didn’t need it.Overall, I am happy with this. One of my cats is an evil genius so he hopped right on and started using it with no coaxing as you can see in the video. He is only 8 months old and already a big boy at 11 pounds so there is plenty of room for him. My other cat is a lazy loaf so it will take some time to get her to do more than just lay on it.

We are very happy with our cat wheel. The Nordic Beast is sturdy and beautiful. Our cat loves it. We had to slowly introduce him to the wheel and it took a little while for him to get completely comfortable enough for him to use it on his own. Our cat, Tubbs, likes to put his toys on the inner part of wheel when he wants to use it. Helpful instructional video made it easy to put together.

I got this for my younger cat Quibble who is full of energy and has annoyed and aggressed upon my older cat Burl. I figured Quibble would get some energy out and be better behaved. He trots casually on it but primarily uses it as a treat mill. Runs two steps and looks up expectantly. The older cat Burl, on the other hand, loves it. He runs super fast and steady every single day, looks like a marathon runner. He's lost some weight and his fur is shinier and softer than ever. He runs in the hall, charges up and yells, then leaps on the wheel mightily and continues. I think his legs are going to be super muscular soon. Every day is leg day for him now. I wish I could hook this thing up to generate electricity a-la The Triplets of Belleville. It's a little loud when they run, and it's huge, very sturdy and well made.

I have a 1 year old cat (Nugget) that simply does NOT run out of energy. I can play with him for hours bedore bedtime but he still gets zoomies very late at night and very early in the morning. I was scared that I'd bought a $200 toy he'd never touch but I was pleasantly surprised, he sprints on this thing multiple times a day! The packaging comes with paper instructions that are a little difficult to understand but there is also a QR code to an assembly video which clears up any confusion. The assembled wheel works exactly as advertised and comes with a small wand toy to encourage your cat to learn how to run on it. Nugget didn't have much interest in the toy, so if yours doesn't I'd say to try a laser pointer. After using it twice he no longer needed any encouragement or assistance. The noise level is a concern. It doesn't squeak but due to the weight of the wheel it can sound like someone is rolling a cart full of boxes down a wooden hallway. This isn't too much of an issue as long as you are keeping the wheel away from where you sleep. Overall, worth every penny to save my sanity and let me rest while keeping young Nug happy! Was really excited to get this but was disapointed with the quality of the product that arrived. Multiple chips in the wood product. It has unfinished edges that male it look cheap. The carpet attaches with velcro. When you attach the carpet...it leaves waves in the carpet. I had to use a staple gun to properly attach the carpet securely .I am also missing one of the wooden supports...wasnt in the packaging.I would send back but I spent hours putting it together.

My Maine coon loves this wheel! The wheel is sturdy and easy to build. Instructions are very simple and easy to follow. My cat weighs about 20 pounds and the wheel works great. I highly recommend it for big cats!

The quality of this cat wheel is outstanding. The wooden pieces are high-grade, finished plywood--no particle board. The three segments of the wheel have extra reinforcement and the holes are pre-drilled, with most having plastic sleeves to ensure a snug fit. I considered gluing the sections together but did not in case I need to disassemble it or make repairs in the future. A power drill (to do most of the work) and a ratcheting screw driver (for final turns) are recommended. At first I wondered if the four spinning wheels (on which the big wheel spins) would be adequate, but it works great with little noise. The instructions were actually good, although it would be helpful if the hardware pieces (such as screws, bolts) were identified by size (cm/inches). My four kitties (four months old) were very interested in the build (they helped, of course) and two of them actually started chasing the laser light on the wheel as soon as I finished the assembly. They also enjoyed the shipping box. (Great packaging!) Success!

The video on assembling is fantastic clearly goes set by step. It did take me awhile to get it together but I’m very pleased with this cat wheel. I’m so glad I purchased it everything advertised is true. Wider track for cats is better and safer I don’t have the gold strip on yet because the cats were all over it lol. Best cat wheel don’t hesitate buy it and give your cats time to get use to it!

Assembly went well with two people. No missing pieces and the instructions were adequate. The wheel looks great in the room and the younger of our 2 cats will use the wheel if enticed with the feather wand but bores of it fairly quickly. Otherwise, it serves as a nice conversation piece and cat bed. We have it sitting on a rug to muffle the sound, so it is not annoyingly noisy. Just be sure you have a room large enough to accommodate it and a cat who is a self-starter!
